Honorary and Honor Societies

UCR has a wide variety of Honorary and Honor Societies. Each one is nationally recognized and every organization has a different focus, purpose and eligibility requirements. Alpha Lambda Delta
The purpose of ALD is to: Encourage superior academic achievement among students in their first year in institutions of higher education, promote intelligent living, and a continued high standard of learning, assist women and men in recognizing and developing meaningful goals, and enrich our society by offering our knowledge and skills to those in need or desiring our help.

Delta Epsilon Iota Academic Honor Society (DEI)
The purpose of DEI at the University of California, Riverside is to build a bridge between students and the Career Center, in which members are empowered to become ambassadors for the Career Center and help to spread opportunities to fellow students. Our mission is also to promote the ideals of dedication, enthusiasm, and initiative at the University of California, Riverside through student leadership, special programs coordinated with the career center, campus and community service projects, and regular networking opportunities for members.

Gamma Beta Phi
Gamma Beta Phi is a non-secret, nonprofit, scholastic, educational-service organization open to all majors. This society recognizes and encourages excellence in education and promotes the development of leadership ability.

Golden Key International Honour Society
The mission of Golden Key International Honour Society, a nonprofit academic honors organization, is to recognize and encourage scholastic achievement and excellence in all undergraduate fields of study, to unite with faculty and administrators in developing and maintaining high standards of education, to provide economic assistance to outstanding members by means of both undergraduate and graduate scholarships, and to promote altruistic conduct through voluntary service.

Mu Sigma Rho at UCR (MSR)
Mu Sigma Rho is a non-secret organization whose purpose is the promotion and encouragement of scholarly activity in statistics and the recognition of worth-while achievement among the staff and students in eligible academic and nonacademic institutions. It aims to do this by: 1. Electing members according to their academic achievement, especially in the field of statistics 2. Engaging in activities designed to promote the statistical and general scholarly development of its members 3. Encouraging participation in the various professional statistical societies and associations.

National Residence Halls Honorary
The mission of the National Residence Halls Honorary (NRHH) at the University of California, Riverside is to aid in the development and maintenance of a strong, diverse and academically successful community within the UCR Residence Halls.

National Society of Collegiate Scholars
The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) is an honor society that recognizes and elevates high-achieving students in all academic disciplines. Nominees must be in their first or second year of their undergraduate career, and have earned a GPA of 3.4 or higher and rank in the top 20 percent of their class. Less than 10 percent of the students at institutions with NSCS chapters qualify for membership.

Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society
To recognize those who have attained a high standard of efficiency in collegiate activities and to inspire others to strive for similar attainments. The Society recognizes achievement in the following five areas: 1. Scholarship, 2. Athletics, 3. Campus/Community Service, Social/Religious Activities, Campus Government, 4. Journalism, Speech and the Mass Media, and 5. Creative and Performing Arts.

Order of Omega (National Fraternity/ Sorority Honor Society)
The purpose of the Order of Omega is threefold as stated in the nation constitution: First, to recognize those students who have attained a high standard of leadership in inter-Greek activities, to encourage them to continue along this line, and to inspire others to strive for similar conspicuous attainment. Second, to bring together the most representative fraternity and sorority members, and to create an organization which will help to mold the sentiment of the institution on questions of local and intercollegiate affairs. Third, to bring together members of the faculty, alumni and student members of the institution fraternities and sororities on a basis of mutual interest, understanding and helpfulness.

Pi Sigma Alpha
The purpose of Pi Sigma Alpha is to recognize excellence in academic achievement by college and university students in the fields of political science, government, international and public affairs; to stimulate scholarship and interest in political science; to promote worthwhile curricular and extracurricular activities related to political science; to promote civil dialog; and to engage in any other activities that further these purposes.

Psi Chi Psychology Honor Society
The purposes of Psi Chi shall be to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship of the individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology, and to advance the science of psychology.

Sigma Alpha Lambda National Leadership and Honors Society
The purpose of Sigma Alpha Lambda is to promote academic excellence at the chapter and national level and to encourage high academic achievement among school-aged children through participation in school-based mentoring programs; to engage university students, faculty, and staff as well as the surrounding community in meaningful, relevant service initiatives and raise awareness for worthwhile causes; to promote an understanding of the service model of leadership, to educate on the philosophy of leading through service, and to develop leadership skills based on the principles of servant leadership.

Tau Beta Pi (National Engineering Honor Society)
Tau Beta Pi (National Engineering Honor Society) commends current and former students who have brought honor to their alma mater either by distinguished scholarship and exemplary character as students, or by their achievements as alumni.

Tau Sigma National Honor Society (Transfer Student Honor Society)
The purpose of Tau Sigma National Honor Society (Transfer Student Honor Society) is to It recognize the academic achievement of students transferring to an institution of higher learning from another academic institution and to encourage and promote the students’ involvement in the institution to which they have transferred.

Theta Tau Professional Engineering Fraternity – Sigma Delta Chapter
The purpose of this fraternity is to develop and to maintain a high standard of professional interest among its members, and to unite them in a strong bond of fraternal
